Statement: Florida Budget Includes Progress for Our Ocean

English Español Français Deutsch Italiano Português русский বঙ্গীয় 中文 日本語

Washington, D.C. – The following statement was issued by Jeff Watters, director of government relations at Ocean Conservancy, in response to Governor DeSantis’ decision to keep the robust environmental funding proposed by the Florida Legislature in the FY2021 state budget.

“The budget approved today by Governor Ron DeSantis is a win for our ocean. This funding will support important projects that help ensure the health and prosperity of our ocean and coasts, and the communities that rely on them.

“It is imperative that decision-makers prioritize the environment. Our ocean is not only a source of relaxation and recreation – it’s a key element of our economy, especially in Florida. Ocean Conservancy applauds the governor for his decision to keep robust environmental funding in the state budget.”
